16 AALL SPECTRUM | WWW.AALLNET.ORG Question: What professional development programs and activities do you recommend to your staff? Professional Development 101 ASK A DIRECTOR A s a government employee, I have to be able to justify all library staff activities to both my agency and the general public. So, every professional development activity that we participate in falls into one of three broad categories. Some professional devel- opment activities spring from specific issues that the Attorney General's Office (AGO) is, or may soon be, dealing with. The direct link from issue to AGO information need is obvious, making the activity costs easy to justify. •••• CAROL OTTOLENGHI DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES Ohio Attorney General Columbus, OH LEADERSHIP
