8 AALL SPECTRUM | WWW.AALLNET.ORG SARAH RHODES 3 3 LAW LIBRARY PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR 3 3 COURT SERVICES OFFICE, DEPARTMENT OF PROGRAM SERVICES, ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE OF THE U.S. COURTS 3 3 WASHINGTON, D.C. VANTAGE POINT MEMBER PROFILE THREE GOALS FOR THE YEAR? Travel, travel, travel! My goal is to visit and meet more of my talented colleagues who work in the federal court libraries throughout the country, intro- duce my baby boy to out-of-state friends and family, and maybe run away with my husband for a long weekend or two. SKILL YOU'D LIKE TO LEARN? Proper French pronuncia- tion. My daughter started kindergarten this year and earned a spot in our school district's French immersion program. I've just been butchering the "language of love" as we've fumbled through her homework. WHAT INSPIRES YOU MOST? Washington, D.C. I've had the opportunity to meet and work with so many exceptional people during my time here. Plus the view of the Capitol Dome always takes my breath away. WORDS TO LIVE BY? "Don't mistake politeness for lack of strength."—Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor FAVORITE BOOK? Giorgio Vasari's The Lives of the Artists. I purchased an English translation of it while working toward my MLS at the Pratt Summer Institute in Florence, and I can't pick it up without thinking of that amazing experience. The biographical vignettes of Renaissance artists read like fairytales. I've toyed with the idea of trying to write an illustrated version of it for children.
